This is the kitchen table.  The fireplaces and stairways and the tree are next…

I love our art deco sculpture peeping through the spruce on the mantleshelf and the victorian rose bows filled with hyacinth and moss.  Our stockings waiting for Santa came from the JVB furniture collection handmade and beaded in South Africa.

Owned in part by a neighbouring farm family and the National Parks- its the perfect place to go to be inspired for intruducing more organic and free lines into the new pieces I am creating for the JVB Furniture Collection

]]> http://www.j-v-b.com/brandfontein-near-the-van-breda-family-farm/feed/ 0 Van Breda Family farm http://www.j-v-b.com/van-breda-family-farm/ http://www.j-v-b.com/van-breda-family-farm/#comments Tue, 08 Nov 2011 14:02:04 +0000 justin http://www.j-v-b.com/?p=1569 Spending a family reunion on Zoetendals Vallei- where the Van Breda’s have farmed for 200 years was inspiring, fun and a great respite after visiting the factories that make our JVB Furniture Collection, always important to see the pieces pre finishing.  The farm is the southernmost farm in Africa and on it is the biggest natural fresh water lake in Southern Africa.  Windswept and wonderful!  The Cape Dutch homestead is of the 1700s and everything made from local limestone and local yellowwood.

Hoping to get the mansard shell and roof sealed before the snow- which they say is coming end October. The house is now stripped back and this is when you see your layout opportunities at their best and can make some design changes- and discoveries like our original floorboards that are at least 10″ wide and will now be restored!
